About
The Richard and Helen DeVos Center for Arts and Worship fulfills a long-held vision for the Grand Rapids Christian Schools - a vision of a state-of-the-art facility where students can develop and express their artistic talents and gather in collective worship.
The Center for Arts and Worship is intended not only to serve the 3,000 students of the Grand Rapids Christian Schools; but also to be a place for the community to come together for performance and worship.
Site constraints and a desire for intimacy dictated the unique configuration of the Center for Arts and Worship. The 1,205-seat auditorium features an internal bowl, which can accomodate smaller groups on the main floor. The Mezzanine and Balcony levels bring the audience close to performances. The 5,045-square-foot stage has been constructed of resilient wood flooring, with a hydraulic orchestra pit lift and a fully rigged fly loft. Backstage support includes a scene shop, costume storage and a make-up application area.
