Band
The band program at Grand Rapids Christian High School consists of a percussion ensemble, two concert bands, and the jazz band. The ensembles are divided by ability, with placement being determined by audition each spring. Jazz band members are selected by audition from students involved in the concert band program.
Meet the Director, Matthew Elzinga
Matthew Elzinga has been the Director of Bands and Jazz Band at Grand Rapids Christian High School since 2008. He earned his Bachelor of Music degree in Instrumental Music Education from St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN, where he studied conducting with Timothy Mahr and Steven Amundson. Before coming to Grand Rapids Christian High School, Mr. Elzinga was the Middle School Band Director in the Grand Rapids Catholic Schools.
