West Michigan Youth Ballet (WMYB) proudly presents Alice in Wonderland as they celoebrate their sixth performance season showcasing the talent and enthusiasm of 65 dancers ages 8 to 18.

Alice in Wonderland is a classic fairytale loved by children of all ages. We’re thrilled to be able to bring this fairytale to life through the art and beauty of ballet,” says Marlene Kenneway, Artistic Director. “It’s a performance that will inspire children and adults of all ages. We all need a little fantasy in our lives, and Alice in Wonderland promises just that!”

Costumes and sets were loaned to West Michigan Youth Ballet for this performance. “We are very grateful to the Grand Rapids Ballet Company for loaning us sets and many of the costumes for this ballet. Alice in Wonderland has not been performed in the Grand Rapids area for more than 20 years. The West Michigan Youth Ballet is honored to bring this magical experience to the stage for families throughout the region,” adds Kenneway.

WMYB welcomes guest choreographer Gregory M. George. A native of Michigan, Mr. George has an extensive career as a dancer, choreographer, and artistic director. He has performed and choreographed musicals for Wisconsin University, Ann Arbor Civic Players and Bay View Theater Arts, in addition to TV commercials, plays and fashion shows. Mr. George currently works for the Children's Ballet Theatre in Lansing, Michigan, where he has produced numerous full-length ballets such as Coppelia, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Anastasia, and Swan Lake, and choreographed over 100 repertory works.

WMYB will also host a special "High Tea with Alice" on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 11:30 am. This event includes a light lunch and special activities. Characters from the Ballet will join guests at the Tea!  Limited general seating tickets are $15 per person, and are available by clicking here.  “High Tea before the performance is a wonderful way to add enjoyment to the ballet experience” says WMYB President Kathleen Vogelsang.  There will also be an opportunity to join Alice and the Mad Hatter on stage through a special drawing.
